Lesley is horrified and very resistant. However, once she gets to her new
country and a very different life, she begins to find it stimulating and
enjoyable. A strange relationship with Palestinian boy Mustafa, who lives on
the other side of the Jordan river, is a big part of the new Lesley. A very
exciting book, set in the 1960s about life in a pioneering new country.
Lesley has been trying to get her parents to go on a Jewish
ski trip for years. But instead her father decides to move the whole family to
Israel. She feels that this is a bit extreme. Now she has to change the way she
has been living her life. She has to learn more than just the language but also
the customs. This is a great story showing how a teenager has to deal with a
whole new life. I found that it was inventive take. Once I started reading this
book I couldn’t put it down. I am looking forward to reading the next book in
the series, Broken Bridge.
