Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J. K. Rowling

Genre: Young AdultSub Genre: Urban Fantasy; Fantasy; Magic, Witches, WizardsRating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: In Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry, an orphan, lives with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. One day just before his eleventh birthday, an owl tries to deliver a mysterious letter the first of a sequence of events that end in Harry meeting a giant man named Hagrid. Hagrid explains Harry's history to him: When he was a baby, the Dark wizard, Lord Voldemort, attacked and killed his parents in an attempt to kill Harry; but the only mark on Harry was a mysterious lightning-bolt scar on his forehead. Now he has been invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where the headmaster is the great wizard Albus Dumbledore. Harry visits Diagon Alley to get his school supplies, especially his very own wand. To get to school, he takes the Hogwarts Express from platform nine and three-quarters at King's Cross Station. On the train, he meets two fellow students who will become his closest friends: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Harry is assigned to Gryffindor House at Hogwarts, and soon becomes the youngest-ever Seeker on the House Quidditch team. He also studies Potions with Professor Severus Snape, who displays a deep and abiding dislike for Harry, and Defense Against the Dark Arts with nervous Professor Quirrell; he and his friends defeat a mountain troll, help Hagrid raise a dragon, and explore the wonderful, fascinating world of Hogwarts. But all events lead irrevocably toward a second encounter with Lord Voldemort, who seeks an object of legend known as the Sorcerer's Stone.

This is the first book in the brilliantly written Harry Potter series. Most people already know a lot about this story but for those of you who don’t it is about a boy, Harry who finds out that he is magical. It takes place in England and crosses from the world we know to a beautiful and dangerous magical one that we get to see through a young boy. The first time I read this book I was shocked at how much I loved it. The characters where dynamic and well developed for being so young. I can’t get enough of reading this book and can’t wait to read the next book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

The Wish List by Gabi Stevens

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Fairy Godmothers, Magic, Wizards, Sorcerers, Time of Transition Trilogy
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Kristin Montgomery is more than a little shocked when her aunts inform her they’re fairy godmothers. Worse, after dropping that bombshell they hand her a wand and head off on a world cruise. Now Kristin’s uncomplicated life as a CPA in San Diego has disappeared like magic and she not only has to deal with her burgeoning magical powers, but also a reluctant—and distractingly sexy—magical arbiter. Tennyson Ritter is a historian. A scholar by choice, he is yanked from his studies to act as arbiter for the newly chosen fairy godmother. He doesn’t want to waste his time with a woman who doesn’t know anything about magic or the magical world, but soon the beguiling Kristin draws him away from his books and into her life. But before Kristin can hone her skills and pass the tests necessary to fully claim her powers, she and Tennyson must work together to defend the world – both magical and human – against those that would claim her powers for their own.

This is the first in the Time of Transition Trilogy. Kristin thought that she was just going to have a nice visit with her aunts. But soon learns that she is a fairy godmother and a Rare One no less. Her arbiter Tennyson isn’t too happy about his new job. But they are learning that they have to break some rules to make sure that they can make sure that their way of life keeps going. As the two work together they learn more and more everyday about the magic that Kristin possesses. This story is one that makes you guess what is to happen until the very end. I love the characters in this book. Kristin is not someone who is just going to sit quietly. I love Tennyson, he is a great character. One that you can’t help but like, smart, sexy and very good at what he does. I really loved this book and can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Spellbound.

Magic Kingdom For Sale Sold by Terry Brooks

Genre: Fantasy; Magic, Magical Creatures, Wizards, Fairy Folk, Witches, Magicians, Demons
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Landover was a genuine, out-of-this-world magic kingdom, complete with fairy folk and wizardry, just as the advertisement had promised. But after he purchased it for a million dollars, Ben Holiday discovered that there were a few details the ad had failed to mention. The kingdom was falling into ruin. Taxes hadn't been collected in years. The Barons refused to recognize a king and the peasants were without hope. The dragon Strabo was laying waste the countryside and the evil witch Nightshade was plotting to destroy everything. Generally, things were a total mess. Ben's only followers were the incompetent Court Magician, Questar Thews, and Abernathy, the talking dog who served as Court Scribe. For servants, all he had were a pair of kobolds. The Paladin, legendary champion of the Kings of Landover, seemed to be only a myth and an empty suit of armor. Of course, there was the lovely and devoted Willow--but she had a habit of putting down roots in the moonlight and turning into a tree. To put the final touch on the whole affair, Ben soon learned that the Iron Mark, ugly and terrible lord of the demons, had challenged all prospective Kings of Landover to a duel to the death--a duel which no human could hope to win. The task of proving his right to be King seemed hopeless. But Ben Holiday was stubborn.

Ben Holiday wants a change so what does he do? He buys a magical kingdom. After learning what he’s truly gotten himself into he to fixing things. There are a few pesky things he has to work out. But isn’t it the way of things for all kings. This is a very funny book that will brighten your day. I couldn’t stop from giggling while reading this. There are some dark spots but is so engaging you can’t help but enjoy it. This is one of those books that once you start it you can’t stop. I look forward to read the next book in the series, The Black Unicorn.

Back Cover: The wizard of gems. A gemcutter’s daughter, Jena yearns to create jewelry for the Diadem Court – until the night a mysterious noble appears, wearing a ring only Jena can see. For only a wizard can wield the magic able to save the Diadem, and only a gemcutter can cleave the facets of sorcery that threaten to shatter the world. This is one of those great fantasy stories that sticks with you. It has all the great plot twists, with magic, intrigue, and court dynamics. Jena is your unlikely heroin who is learning all about magic on the fly. Her only dream was to be a gemcutter and marry her tailor boyfriend. Then she finds herself far from home and not quite sure how she got there or how she is going to get home. She also has to find Lord Morgan, which turns out to be quite an interesting feet. But with the help of her new allies they are able to work wondrous magic. I loved this story the first time I read it. I found that it was one of those books that you just couldn’t put down. Lucifer's Daughter by Eve Langlais

Genre: Erotic Romance
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Angels, Demons, Succubi, Shifters, Magic, Wizards
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Being Lucifer’s daughter can be hell. Hi, I’m Muriel, the only white sheep in a sea of black ones, and a virgin to boot. I am determined to wait for love, but my dad, more commonly known as Lucifer, just wants me to stop being an embarrassment. I’m hoping the hunk that I met in my bar will turn out to be the one–just looking at him makes my insides melt like marshmallows over the coals of hell, but trusting is hard when it seems everyone I get close to ends up trying to kill me. Not only am I dealing with an extreme case of lust, there’s a new threat in hell, one my dad says to ignore. Something easier said than done since it seems everywhere I turn demons are trying to kill me. But I’m okay with that, because one thing I’ve learned being a princess of hell is that sometimes I have to grab a demon by the horns and slap it around a bit. A rebellion in hell, demon assassins and scorching kisses, could my life get any more interesting?

This is the first book in the Muriel series. Now that it is hot and not suitable for anyone under 18. That being said Muriel is trying to live her life out here on earth after having grown up in Hell with her father and many other siblings. Things are going ok until people start trying to kill her again. But then Auric enters the picture and things change very quickly. The dialog in this book is very creative and makes the story flow. I love Muriel as much as she is a good girl in a bad family she still tries. Auric is hot and yet knows when to make a public apology. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series, Snowballs In Hell.
