Kiss of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Shapeshifters, Vampires, Immortals, Time travel, Gods, Magic
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Dear Reader, What do you get when you have one immortal Viking warrior no one can remember five minutes after he leaves their presence, a princess on the run for her life, and one seriously annoyed demigod? Basically, you get my life. It started out simple enough. One night I went to save a woman in trouble. The next thing I knew, the doorway to hell had opened and out stepped Daimons-vampires the likes of which I'd never seen before. Led by the son of Apollo, they are out to end the curse that has banished them all to darkness. The only problem with that is they have to kill Cassandra Peters to do it and if she dies, so dies the sun, the earth and all who dwell here. Life's just a bowl full of cherries, ain't it? Brought together by fate, it's now my job to protect a daughter of the very race I have been hunting for centuries. Neither of us dares to trust the other. But she is the only one who remembers me... More than that, with her courage and strength, she is the only one who has ever touched a heart that I thought had died centuries ago. The only way for a Dark-Hunter to regain his soul is through the love of a woman. But what happens when that woman isn't exactly human? Wulf Tryggvasen

This is the ninth story in the Dark Hunters series. Wulf has this little problem no one remembers him after he leaves, unless your blood related to him. Then he meets Cassandra who actually does remember him. The only thing is she’s supposed to die soon and a group of soul sucking beings is trying to kill her in order to kill Apollo. This is addition to the Dark Hunters is brilliant. It puts a twist on things and there is another pantheon introduced into the series. I love how Wulf interacts with everyone. He can be a hard warrior and then the most protective person for those he cares about. This is one of my favorite stories in the series and I can’t wait to read the next one, Night Play.

Dragonswan by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Magic, Greek Gods, Immortals, Shapeshifters, Time Travel
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Beautiful scholar Channon MacRea has spent years studying the legendary Dragon Tapestry, devoting days and nights to deciphering the impenetrable Old English symbolism. Then one evening the unnaturally handsome Sebastian appears. He claims to hold the key to solving the key to solving the tapestry’s mysteries. Bearing magnificently taut and tanned flesh marked by intriguing scars of battle, he also claims to be a dragon slayer trapped between two worlds. For Channon there’s only one way to finally uncover the secrets of the intricate embroidery – by following the seductive stranger into a fantastic alternate world of magic, danger, and erotic adventure.

This is another story that is part of Dark Hunter series and is printed in In Other Worls with 2 other shorts, they don’t actually have a Dark Hunter in this story either. It is also a short story that was printed on a short run in its own little book. But even for it being a short one it still is a great story. We get to meet some of the were-hunters, and these ones are dragons, which I loved. It is a beautiful story and very sweet. I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to reading the next book in the series, Night Pleasures.

Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Magic, Greek Gods, Immortals
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Dear Reader, Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn’t. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave, I knew everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander’s sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again. But I was not born to know love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace – the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse? – Julian of Macedon

This is the first book in the Dark Hunter series based on Sherrilyn Kenyon's website. It is a story that doesn't actually have a Dark Hunter in it but it is based in the world of the Dark Hunters and these characters are ones that you will see throughout the series. Grace has been a woman that has had a bad luck in love. Julian has spent two-thousand-years locked in a book only to come out to be a sex slave to whomever calls him out. I am in love with the whole Dark Hunter world, I feel like I am a part of it all. It is that well written. Though the story doesn’t actually have any of the Dark Hunters in it you can begin to see the great set up for what could happen. It’s the story of Julian of Macedon and his heroin Grace Alexander. She has great friends who care about her and one of them actually is the one who sorta introduces Julian to Grace. This is a great story. And if you like this you will love where the series takes you in the next book, Dragonswan.

Posing as a photographer, Caden must convince firecracker tabloid reporter Sydney Blair to reveal the source of her recent exposé on a supernatural power clash. Unfortunately, keeping his hands off the sizzling redhead proves as hard as getting them onto the potent and mystical Doomsday Diary he discovers at her bedside. A bloody rebellion led by an evil, power-hungry wizard is imminent. If Sydney divulges the book's existence, she will jeopardize magickind's most deeply guarded secrets and become the ruthless wizard's number one target. Tempt Me With Darkness by Shayla Black

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Magic, Immortals, Arthurian Legend, Doomsday Brethren
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: He's an immortal knight hungering for satisfaction.... As soon as Marrok sees Olivia Gray's dark windswept hair and burning violet eyes, he's sure they've met in eons past. He's felt her soft gentle curves writhing in pleasure beneath his own hard powerful body...Morganna! For centuries, towering Marrok, once the mightiest of King Arthur's warriors, has endured a terrible curse cast upon him when he spurned the witch. She's a modern woman about to discover ancient magic.... Olivia shares a mystical — and irresistible — connection with brooding Marrok. Soon after the sexy warrior appears in her erotic dreams, he abducts her, demanding she uncurse him. Their intense passion is more powerful — and intimate — than either of them has ever known. Olivia may be the key to unlocking the diary that will break Morganna's hold on his life. But in the wrong hands, the book also holds the power to destroy all magickind. As they search for answers, a ruthless wizard returned from exile is building an army of evil. When he discovers Marrok and Olivia have the diary, only their love — with the help of a powerful group of magical Brethren — can save them.

This is the first book in the Doomsday Brethren series. Marrok may not be magickind but he has lived for centuries. He was one of the greatest knights of King Arthur’s court. But he made Morganna very made and has been cursed ever since. Olivia has recently moved to London in search of her father. Only to find out that she is magickind and that she has a connection to Marrok. The relationship between the two of them is a little thin at first but grows quickly. And I have to say the supporting characters really make this story sore to new heights. I really liked the whole book and am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Seduce Me In Shadow.

Blue Moon by Alyson Noel

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy; Immortals, People with Abilities
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Just as Ever is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an immortal, initiated into the dark, seductive world by her beloved Damen, something terrible is happening to him. As Ever’s powers increase, Damen’s begin to fade after he is stricken by a mysterious illness that threatens his memory, his identity, his life. Desperate to save him, Ever travels to the mystical dimension of Summerland, where she uncovers not only the secrets of Damen’s past – the brutal, tortured history he hoped to keep hidden – but also an ancient text revealing the workings of time. With the approaching blue moon heralding her only window for travel, Ever is forced to decide between turning back the clock and saving her family from the accident that claimed them – or staying in the present and saving Damen, who grows weaker by the day…

This is the second book in the Immortals series. I loved this story. Ever is trying to learn about well, everything she can do. As well as work on her relationship with Damen. But as the new boy enters its almost as if Damen checks out of his body. Things keep going wrong and it just gets all twisted as you can’t figure out who to trust. But its so compelling you can’t put the story down. I loved how Ever was wary of Roman from the beginning. I just wish she had trusted her instincts. The twins where a little creepy, but in a good way and made Summerland more rounded. I loved how imaginative this was. Alyson’s writing is beautiful and I can’t seem to read enough and can't wait to read the next in this series, Shadowland.

Dark Time by Dakota Banks

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Immortals, Demons, Mortal Path
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Three hundred years ago, she sold her soul to a demon. Now she wants it back. For centuries, the woman calling herself Maliha Crayne has lived a second life—as an assassin for the malevolent creature who owns her soul. A haunted killer with the blood of countless victims on her hands, she has finally discovered a way to nullify the demonic pact that chains her: If she saves a life for every one she has taken, she will be free. But if she fails, her punishments will be unspeakable, unendurable . . . and neverending.

This is the first book in the Mortal Path series. Maliha made a deal with a demon so that she may live after being falsely accused of witchcraft. After fighting for years she learns that she can change her ways. Now she works to go against the demon who is waiting for her to fail. The story is a little jumpy when we see things that happen in the past to present. But it all works together. Maliha is a great character as you watch her from the very beginning to what she is now trying to do. The supporting cast are also very well written. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the next one, Sacrifice.

Evermore by Alyson Noel

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Immortals, People with Abilities
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people’s auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone’s entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppressing her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school – but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste. Damen is gorgeous, exotic, and wealthy. He’s the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head – wielding a magic so intense, it’s as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she’s left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is – or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she’s falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

This was a great first story, having a take on Immortals that I’ve only seen once or twice. Ever is a very dynamic character, whom has had her tragedy and is trying to deal with survivors remorse. Being one of the outsiders but having some true friends. When Damen shows up you begin to see changes in her as she comes back to life. I really enjoyed this story. There are dangers that the characters have to deal with but they also have the emotional conflict. That keeps you rooted to the page. A story that I could read over and over again. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, Blue Moon.

All she knows is that with her mysterious benefactor, Archer, Lord Black, returning to London at the behest of Queen Victoria, she should seize the chance to get some answers. Archer, a member of the immortal Shadow Guard, has been summoned to London to eliminate an exceptionally evil threat: Jack the Ripper. With his prey brutally killing London’s East End prostitutes, Archer must stop the Ripper before the murderer’s soul slips beyond his grasp, and do so while protecting his beautiful young ward, Elena, whom he spared from death two years earlier. But with a wave of panic spreading across London, Archer fears that Elena is his weakness – a distraction he can’t afford, especially since she’s likely to become the Ripper’s next target.

Warrior Ascended by Addison Fox

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Immortals, Gods, Abilities, Magic, The Sons of the Zodiac
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Millennia ago, the Goddess of justice created a race of fierce warriors, each imbued with a special power if the Zodiac and charged with protecting humanity from the darkest of evils. Charming, proud, and impulsive, Leo Warrior Brody Talbot is fighting what may be his final battle. Enyo, the Goddess of War, plans to fulfill an ancient prophecy to destroy humanity by harnessing the dark power of the Summoning Stones of Egypt – and there’s only one person who knows enough about the stones to help Brody diminish their strength. Since her father’s murder, museum curator Ava Harrison has continued his research of Egypt’s ancient treasures. She’s just landed the exhibit of the century: displaying the Summoning Stones at New York’s American Museum of Natural History. Used to working alone, Ava is suspicious of the arrogant archaeologist who’s been brought in to ensure the stone’s safekeeping, but his presence ignites an unexpected blaze of attraction. Never in all his centuries has Brody met a woman who enthralls him as Ava does. But, bound to protect her, he struggles to deny his passion as they are drawn into a dark and dangerous final reckoning between good and evil.

This is the first book in the Sons of the Zodiac series. Brody is on a dig in Egypt only to have to deal with fighting a Destroyer and losing a friend. He then goes to protect Ava. Ava is so wrapped up in her work that she doesn’t even notice Brody following her. This only annoys Brody. But then things change and Ava is attacked. Now they must work together to retrieve the Summoning Stones. The story is filled with adventure and danger as well as magic and romance. The whole aspect of the warriors and the zodiac is very imaginative. I love the twist on the old mixing in with the new. The strong emphasis on the zodiac was great. I really loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series, Warrior Avenged.

Everneath by Brodi Ashton

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Everliving, Immortals,
Rating: 5 out Of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Last spring, Nikki Beckett vanished, sucked into an underworld known as the Everneath. Now she’s returned—to her old life, her family, her boyfriend—before she’s banished back to the underworld . . . this time forever. She has six months before the Everneath comes to claim her, six months for good-byes she can’t find the words for, six months to find redemption, if it exists. Nikki longs to spend these precious months forgetting the Everneath and trying to reconnect with her boyfriend, Jack, the person most devastated by her disappearance—and the one person she loves more than anything. But there’s just one problem: Cole, the smoldering immortal who enticed her to the Everneath in the first place, has followed Nikki home. Cole wants to take over the throne in the underworld and is convinced Nikki is the key to making it happen. And he’ll do whatever it takes to bring her back, this time as his queen. As Nikki’s time on the Surface draws to a close and her relationships begin slipping from her grasp, she is forced to make the hardest decision of her life: find a way to cheat fate and remain on the Surface with Jack or return to the Everneath and become Cole’s queen. Everneath is a captivating story of love, loss, and immortality from debut author Brodi Ashton.

This story starts with Nikki waking up with Cole. Nikki starts out as a broken character but as the story goes on she rebuilds herself. The story is complicated but well written. It keeps you on your toes as you jump from the past to the present and back. There aren't a whole lot of supporting characters but the few that are there really helped the story. Jack is one of those characters that you can't help but wonder what is going through his head. The addition of mythology throughout the story is very well integrated. There is a novella called Neverfall that came out December 2012. It is a short story that comes between the first and second book. Which follows Cole and his search for his obsession with Nikki. The second book is Everbound, published January 2013. I'm looking forward to seeing where the series will be going, as I loved this book.
