Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampires, Moroi, Strigoi, Dhampir, Magic, Vampire Academy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school–it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's–the very place where they're most in danger. Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi–the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires–make Lissa one of them forever.

This is the first book in the Vampire Academy. Rose and Lissa have been running away from both the Strigoi and the people from the Academy for a while now. But their luck finally has run out. Now they are back and not everyone is happy. There is also more going on than anyone has realized. The story is one that is a new take on Vampires. I found that it is very imaginative. I loved Rose and Lissa’s relationship. As Rose realizes what is going on she also starts grow as a character. I really enjoyed reading this book. It’s actually one that my little sister told me about but it took me a while to get my hands on. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series Frostbite.
