Bad Blood by Mari Mancusi

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampires, Werewolves, Vampire Slayers, Sidhe, Fairy, Blood Coven Vampire
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Sunny McDonald is in the ultimate forbidden relationship. Her boyfriend Magnus is a vampire, and the leader of the Blood Coven. Their differences have never been an issue, until now… When the Blood Coven decides that Magnus needs a mate to be his co-ruler, Sunny’s humanity puts her out of the running. The Coven’s chosen candidate is Jane Johnson, a magna cum laude graduate of Oxford University who just happens to look like a vampiric supermodel. Sunny is suspicious of a Rhodes Scholar who can’t answer the most basic poly-sci questions, but Magnus brushes it off as petty jealousy. Still, when the Blood Coven goes to Las Vegas for a vampire convention—where Magnus and Jane’s bonding ceremony will be the main event—Sunny and her sister Rayne secretly tag along. And Sunny’s not going home before she learns the truth about Jane. Because not everything stays in Vegas—especially bad blood…

This is the fourth book in Blood Coven Vampire series. Sunny feels that Magnus has betrayed her. But she still goes to help him because her gut tells her that something is wrong. I truly don’t want to say too much about as this series as I love this series. This is a great story that adds more to the series. I can’t get enough of these books and can’t wait to see where the series is going to go from here.

Uncertain Magic by Laura Kinsale

Genre: Historical Romance; 1700’s
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Sidhe, Mind Reading
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: A man damned by suspicion and innuendo. Dreadful rumors swirl around the impoverished Irish lord known as "The Devil Earl." But Faelan Savigar hides a dark secret, for even he doesn't know what dreadful deeds he may be capable of... A woman cursed by the gift of "sight." Roderica Delamore fears no man will ever want a wife who can read his every thought and emotion, until she encounters Faelan. As the two find their way to each other against all odds, Roddy becomes determined to save Faelen from his terrifying and mysterious ailment. But will their love end up saving him...or destroying her? A breathtaking historical romance filled with poignancy, darkness, love, and an unexpected twist of Gaelic magic...

Roddy can hear every living thing’s thoughts. When she meets Faelan it is the first time that she hears nothing. Faelan is trying to just go back to Ireland and to his family home but he is broke. Roddy suggests that they might suit and starts things to move forward for them. The story has a few plot twists that show the true colors of these great characters. I liked the story but there were times that it seemed to drag. But I did like the two main characters as they realized what it was that they needed for themselves.

Silver's Edge by Anne Kelleher

Genre: Fantasy; Magic, Shadowlands, Sidhe, Fey
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Through the Shadowlands: where the touch of silver was protections, power and peril. Unwillingly entwined . . . There is more danger than usual in the Otherworld of the Sidhe and the mortal world of the Shadowlands. An unlikely group of conspirators -- both mortal and Sidhe -- plot to overthrow both thrones. They'd stolen the silver caul that protected the borders between the realms -- and set into motion a most perilous war. A blacksmith's daughter, a Sidhe lady, a mortal queen. Three women stand against the encroaching evil. All they have is a girl's love for her father, a lady's for her queen -- and a queen's for her country. Nessa, Delphinea and Cecily are each driven by a personal destiny, yet share a fierce sense of love, justice and determination to protect what is theirs. Will the spirit and strength of these women be enough to turn back the tide of the goblin hordes waiting to overrun the kingdoms? Perhaps. But the battle must still be fought . . .

This is a complicated story that follows three different women. Each has a roll to play and not one that they ever thought of. But they must follow their destiny or the world as they know it will fall. The idea behind the story is very good but the follow through for it isn’t great. There are some times that the change from one character to the other isn’t very smooth. And I didn’t feel a great connection between the characters. I didn’t like this story very much.

Red Hot Fury by Kasey MacKenzie

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Fury, Warhound, Harpy, Shapeshifters, Sidhe, Magic, Shades of Fury
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Hell hath nothing worse than a Fury scorned... As a Fury, Marissa Holloway belongs to an Arcane race that has avenged wrongdoing since time immemorial. As Boston's Chief Magical Investigator for the past five years, she's doing what she was born to: solving supernatural crimes. It's far from business as usual when the body of one of Riss's sister Furies washes up in Boston harbor. Riss discovers that the corpse's identity has been magically altered, but as soon as she reports her findings, she's immediately--and inexplicably--suspended from her job. Then a human assassin makes an attempt on her life, and Riss starts to realize that someone may be trying to stir up strife between mortals and Arcanes. When a Fury gets mad, she gets even, and Riss is determined to untangle this case. Without the support of the mortal PD, Riss turns to the one man she can trust to watch her back--shapeshifting Warhound Scott Murphy. But since Scott is also Riss's ex, she'll have to keep a tight leash on more than just the supernatural rage that feeds her power as they try to solve a murder--and stop a war...

This is Kasey MacKenzie first book and it is the first book of the Shades of Fury series. Riss is a Fury who doesn’t actually want to work with the magical. She would rather work with mundanes but it doesn’t always work out that way. After getting called into a crime scene that is full of magic she is nearly killed. Now she must ask an ex-boyfriend for his help in keeping her alive but without getting hurt. The story keeps you on your toes and you can’t anticipate anything, which only makes for a brilliantly written story. I love Riss and her spunk. I can’t wait to read the next book the series, Green-Eyed Envy.
