Devil You Know by Jenna Black

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Demons, Magic, Morgan Kingsley, Exorcists
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: The beautiful. The bad. The possessed. Some people worship them. Some people fear them. And some people—like Morgan Kingsley—go up against them toe-to-toe, flesh to flesh, and power against power. An exorcist by trade, Morgan is one of the few humans with an aura stronger than her possessor, even though her demon can tease her body senseless. She’s also a woman who has just discovered a shocking truth: everything she once believed about her past, her identity, may have been a lie. With a family secret exploding around her and a full-scale demon war igniting, Morgan is a key player in an unsettled world. Then a rogue sociopathic demon enters her life with a bang. His name is The Hunter. And since she is the prey, Morgan has only one choice: to hunt The Hunter down—no matter what heartbreaking truths she uncovers along the way….

This is the second in the Morgan Kingsley series. Morgan’s world has turned upside down by being possessed. Now she has to deal with the hunter. Her whole life has changed and more is coming. I don’t want to say too much as I don’t want to ruin it for anyone. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series, The Devil’s Due.

The Devil Inside by Jenna Black

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Demons, Magic
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Exorcism isn’t a job, it’s a calling—and a curse. Just ask Morgan Kingsley, a woman who has a stronger aura than any demon. Or so she thought. Now, in a pair of black leather pants and a kick-ass tattoo, Morgan is heading back to Philadelphia after a nasty little exorcism—and her life is about to be turned upside down…by the demon that’s gotten inside her. Not just any demon. Six feet five inches of dark, delicious temptation, this one is to die for—that is, if he doesn’t get Morgan killed first. Because while some humans vilify demons and others idolize them, Morgan’s demon is leading a war of succession no human has ever imagined. For a woman trying to live a life, and hold on to the almost-perfect man, being possessed by a gorgeous rebel demon will mean a wild ride of uninhibited thrills, shocking surprises, and pure, unadulterated terror…

When Morgan goes to do an exorcism in a small town she gets more then she is bargaining for. She soon learns that she is possessed herself, and not just by anyone but by one of the most powerful demons. And she can’t let anyone know that she is since it is an unregistered possession. The story is one that you start that takes you all over the place and still makes you feel like you’ve been on a rollercoaster. But it such a good read you’ll want to have a second turn. I really liked this story and can’t wait to read the rest in the series starting with Devil You Know.

Destiny Kills by Keri Arthur

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Dragons, Magic, Elementals, Myth and Magic Series
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Desire calls. Danger lurks. But…Destiny kills. When Destiny McCree wakes up beside a dead man on an Oregon beach, she knows only this: she has to keep moving, keep searching, and keep one step ahead of the forces that have been pursuing her from the heart of Scotland to this isolated spot. Why? The death of her lover has left her alone, with little memory of her past. A glimmering serpent-shaped ring is the one clue she has—and a bargaining chip in a most dangerous game…Enter Trae Wilson, a master thief with a sexy, knowing grin and a secret agenda of his own. Destiny and Trae both have powers far beyond the human—and both are running for their lives. Together they’re riding a tide of danger, magic and lust…but with killers stalking their every move, they must use any means necessary, even each other, to survive—until the shocking secret of one woman’s destiny finally unravels…

This is the first book in the Myth and Magic Series. Destiny wakes up knowing she must run and that she isn’t human. She ends up playing chicken with Trae to get away. The two of them together make for an explosive combination. At first neither trusting the other, only to be forced into relying on each other. I found this to be one of those books that once you start it you can’t put it down. There is a heavy emphasis on the myths that surround the sea and air dragons. It makes for a tale that pulls you in. I liked this book a lot and can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Mercy Burns.

Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding

Genre: Urban Fantasy; Magical, Magical Creatures, Vampires, Shape-shifters, Trolls, Dreg City
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: She's young, deadly, and hunted—with only three days to solve her own murder… When Evangeline Stone wakes up naked and bruised on a cold slab at the morgue – in a stranger’s body, with no memory of who she is and how she got there – her troubles are only just beginning.  Before that night, she and the other two members of her Triad were star bounty hunters -- mercilessly cleansing the city of the murderous creatures living in the shadows, from vampires to shape-shifters to trolls. Then something terrible happened that not only cost all three of them their lives, but also convinced the city’s other Hunters that Evy was a traitor . . . and she can’t even remember what it was. Now she’s a fugitive, piecing together her memory, trying to deal some serious justice – and discovering that she has only three days to solve her own murder before the reincarnation spell wears off. Because in three days, Evy will die again – but this time, there’s no second chance…

This is the first book in the Dreg City series. Evy wakes up in the morgue. Now she has to figure out how she got there and why she can’t remember anything. And she soon learns that those she has worked for before believe that she is a traitor. Now she only has to prove that she isn’t. Oh and she only has three days to do it. Evy is a great character. Smart, fast, and can kick but when she wants. There are so many twists and turns throughout the story. Once I started reading this one I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series, As Lie the Dead.
