Touching Darkness by Jaime Rush

Genre: Paranormal Romance; People with Abilities, The Offspring
Sub Genre: Science Fiction
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: They live ordinary lives, but they are extraordinary. They are the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry - and they are in terrible danger. Nicholas Braden has an uncanny psychic talent for finding things - which is why he's been recruited for a covert government program designed to hunt down terrorists. While his work for a shady controller named Darkwell is leading him down some very questionable alleyways, it's also bringing him closer to Olivia, Darkwell's stunning young assistant. A "good girl" with a wild, secret side, Olivia tempts Nicholas in ways he never believed possible - and in his business, a loss of control could prove fatal. But there is something not right about the operation. And as Nicholas and Olivia's passion reaches a white-hot intensity, chilling reversals of good and evil, of right and wrong, suddenly threaten their very survival.

This is the third book in the Offspring series. Nicholas is working for Darkwell but  is beginning to have some questions about what is really going on. It doesn’t help that he is starting to have feelings for Olivia as well. Olivia doesn’t know who to believe. She is told one thing and yet is seeing something else all around her. The story is just building from the others. What was great about this book is that you get to see all the side stories and we get to meet some new characters as well. Nicholas is one of sweetest male characters I’ve ever read. I also liked to see Olivia change as she realized what was really going on. I really like this book and can’t wait to read Burning Darkness.

Out of the Darkness by Jaime Rush

Genre: Paranormal Romance; People with Abilities, The Offspring
Sub Genre: Science Fiction
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: They live ordinary lives, but they are extraordinary. They are the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry – and they are in terrible danger. Rand Brandenburg can see the future, yet thus far all he has done with his unique ability is become a skillful gambler. But according to the Offspring, his power has made him a target and could get him killed. So the loner used to living on the edge is now hiding out with others just like him, including Zoe Stoker, a mysterious redhead who has his heart soaring. But that’s not the only thing Zoe’s got flying. All her life, whenever she felt anything too intensely, objects would start moving. She’s never been able to control her power, so instead she’s shut down her emotions. Now, as a powerful enemy approaches, she’s losing control of her heart. But letting love lead her out of the darkness might save her life…

This is the second book in Jaime Rush’s Offspring series. The main love interests in this book are Rand and Zoe. Zoe is a tattoo artist that is a little bit of a control freak. Then you have the loner of Rand, who is amazing. The two of them are amazing together. I have to say that Rand is my favorite character. I love how artistic he is and what he uses to create his art. Also the dynamic the rest of the characters have with one another is great. We get to Amy and Lucas as well as the rest again. Eric is a hot head as always. I really enjoyed reading this and can’t wait to read the next one in the series, Touching Darkness.

Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampire, Magic, Ghouls
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Her deadly dreams leave her in grave danger. Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they’ve fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it’s time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She’s having visions of a vampire named Gregor who’s more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn’t know about. Gregor believes Cat is his and he won’t stop until he has her. As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor’s hold over her. She’ll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she’s ever faced.. even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

This story had me guessing the whole time. There are so many ups and downs throughout the story. Cat and Bones finding that Mencheres has again been manipulating events so that they go his way. Cat thinking Bones has betrayed him and vise versa. Vlad being there for Cat when she feels like her world is falling apart. Totally has you sitting on the edge of your seat. I loved every minute of it. This whole series is absolutely brilliant. The writing takes you away into this great world. Jeaniene makes sure that the story just gets better. There are so many layers to the whole series. I can’t wait to see where she is going to go with this. The next story in this series is a short story in Magic Graves.

At Grave’s End by Jeaniene Frost

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampire, Magic, Ghouls
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Some things won’t stay buried… at grave’s end. It should be the best time of half-vampire Cat Crawfield’s life. With her undead lover Bones at her side, she’s successfully protected mortals from the rogue undead. But though Cat’s worn disguise after disguise to keep her true identity a secret from the brazen bloodsuckers, her cover’s finally been blown, placing her in terrible danger. As if the wasn’t enough, a woman from Bones’s past is determined to bury him once and for all. Caught in the crosshairs of a vengeful vamp, yet determined to help Bones stop a lethal magic from being unleashed, Cat’s about to learn the true meaning of bad blood. And the tricks she’s learned as a special agent won’t help her. She will need to fully embrace her vampire instincts in order to save herself – and Bones – from a fate worse than the grave.

In this story the undead are coming out of the woodwork. A war between vampires is starting and Bones has to choose sides. Cat wanting to make sure that he lives through this wants to help in any way that she can. We also meet Vlad my third favorite vampire of this series. Mencheres’ battle pulls everyone in and I loved the outcome. I found the whole story to be a nail bighting adventure. I couldn’t get enough of it. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Destined for an Early Grave.

One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampire, Magic, Ghouls
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide… Half-vampire Cat Crawfild is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind. Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head – wanted: dead or half-alive – means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever… and that Bones won’t let her get away again.

Ok so years have gone by and now Cat has to let everyone know that Bones isn’t dead, as she needs his help. We meet a bunch of guys that work with Cat as special agents, Tate, Juan, Cooper, Dave and Dan. Great group that made me laugh a lot. The reunion between Cat and Bones was great. I never liked that she left at all. And with Cat finding out about her father’s side of the family was great. The encounter with Max and Ian was great. Beside Bones, Spade has to be one of my favorite characters, mainly for his lines. The end surprised me with what happened with Dave. But I loved every minute of it and can't wait to read the next one in the series, At the Grave's End.

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampire, Magic, Ghouls
Sub Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Flirting with the grave…Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father – the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership. In exchange for finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She’s amazed she doesn’t end up as his dinner – are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn’t have to be all bad. But before she can enjoy her newfound status as kick-ass demon hunter, Cat and Bones are pursued by a group of killers. Now Cat will have to choose a side…and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

Cat dose not take anything from anyone. She goes out every night to kill vampires to make her mother happy. But once she and Bones get together she gets a new perspective on vampires. Heck she even totally falls for Bones. But then I can’t say I blame her. Cat is nothing like you expect. Bones is one of those characters that you just love. I got so captivated by this I was shocked when it was over. And not just how it ended. I'm just glad I have the more of this series as I can't wait to read the next book, One Foot in the Grave.

A Perfect Darkness by Jaime Rush

Genre: Paranormal Romance; People with Abilities, The Offspring
Sub Genre: Science Fiction
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: They live ordinary lives, but they are extraordinary. They are the Offspring, children of a mysterious experiment gone awry – and they are in terrible danger. A sexy stranger awakens Amy Shane in the dead of night. Lucas Vanderwyck barely has time to whisper a few words before three men burst into her bedroom and drag him away. But what Lucas reveals shatters Amy’s safe little world forever. Lucas and Amy share a psychic gift – a gift that could put them in mortal danger. And as they share night after night of savage passion, as a shadowy government conspiracy tracks their every move, they will fight to save each other. But only with their powers of second sight can they escape the terror of a perfect darkness.
This is a paranormal romance about talented people like the X-Men. People who have different and mixed abilities. I liked the character building for each of the Offspring. The way the story goes you are spending a lot of time getting to know the characters as well as the world. I believe that the next book will be better as it can focus more on the story and not so much on explaining things. It is a good first book. The ties that hold Lucas and Amy together was brilliant concept. I found that they both where scared of what could, might, or would happen to them. The overall dynamic of the story makes for good reading. I can't wait to read the next book in this series Out of the Darkness.
