Back Cover: Percy Jackson’s
seventh-grade year has been surprisingly quiet. Not a single monster has set
foot on his New York prep-school campus. But when an innocent game of dodgeball
among Percy and his classmates turns into a death match against an ugly gang of
cannibal giants, things get . . . well, ugly. And the unexpected arrival of
Percy’s friend Annabeth brings more bad news: the magical borders that protect
Camp Half-Blood have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and unless a cure is
found, the only safe haven for demigods will be destroyed.
This is the second book in Percy
Jackson and The Olympians series. Percy has almost made it through a whole
school year without incident. He’s even made a new friend. But on the last day
of school all hell breaks loose. And things just seem to be going downhill from
there. Percy as a character has grown a bit since the last book. Now off on
another adventure we get to learn more about the prophecy that wasn’t talked
about much in the first book. This story builds on the last one and show a
great amount of depth. I love how these books are written. And I can’t wait to
see where it will go from here in the next book, The Titan's Curse.
