The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Genre: Children Classics
Sub Genre: Fiction
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover:
It was the sweetest, most mysterious-looking place any one could imagine. The high walls which shut it in were covered with the leafless stems of roses which were so thick that they matted together… ““No wonder it is still,” Mary whispered. “I am the first person who has spoken in here for ten years.” This is the secret garden, mysterious, walled, and locked, the center of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beautiful and moving story of a lonely, willful little girl and how she finds friends, health, and happiness when she comes to live in a great house on the Yorkshire moors. It is a story that has been loved by boys and girls since its first publication in 1912, never losing its charm, its magic, and its deep satisfaction.

Yes this is a classic and you may know the story but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t read it. I have loved this story for as long as I can remember. It is one that I think that every child should hear or read. Mary is so lost and alone when she first arrives. Dickon was always my favorite characters. How he loves with all things that are growing and living. He even teaches Colin to live life to the fullest. A true family story that can bring everyone together, I recommend this to everyone to read.
