Atlantis Riptide by Allie Burton

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Mermaids,
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Sixteen-year-old Pearl Poseidon ran away from the circus tired of her adoptive parents’ abuse of her special skills. As a runaway, she craves anonymity but when she saves a small boy from drowning she draws attention to herself and her special abilities. Boardwalk employee and aspiring investigative reporter, Chase Thomas, helps her with the rescue and witnesses her amazing dive. Now, he has questions. And so do the police. Unbeknownst to Pearl, a battle rages under the Pacific between Loyal and Non-Loyal Atlantean forces and each side wants to use her powers for their cause. Will the commotion in the ocean expose her secrets to the world? Will Chase’s reporter-determination ruin their chance for a real relationship? Will staying near the ocean she loves catapult into a battle royale?

This is the first book in the Lost Daughters of Atlantis series. Pearl just wants to live a quite life. Where she doesn't have to do anything for anyone but herself. She is discovering that is very difficult to do. This is great story of someone learning about her origins. Her relationship with Chase is brilliant. I loved the underwater adventures as well. I found this book to be very entertaining and look forward to reading the next book in the series, Atlantis Red Tide.

Gilded Destiny by Nola Sarina

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampires
Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: A woman's memory returns when she falls in love with the monster who took it from her. Calli tattoos her skin to fill the holes in her memory, thanks to an accident that left her mind damaged and empty. But a nasty encounter with a fired employee leaves her in the arms of her unlikely savior: Nycholas, a predatory, serpentine Vesper on the run from his brutal master. Nycholas’ clandestine world holds the secrets to mankind’s origin and survival… but he only wants one thing before his time is up: a few colorful nights with Calli, the fragile, tattooed, human woman he pursued and saved. The more Calli learns about Nycholas, the more her own darkened memories return to her. Despite her haunted past, she loses herself to passion and desire with her immortal captor. Now, Calli must overcome the demons of her past, or allow Nycholas to kiss her memories away and spare her the trauma of loving a doomed immortal. But each choice comes with dire consequences – some that endanger not only herself, but her family as well.

This is the first book in the Vesper series. Calli is one of those characters that you really feel for. At first it is because she is so forgetful. But she soon starts to become a stronger character when she gets to know Nycholas. So as not to give too much away I'll just say that I enjoyed reading this story. The characters are well written. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, Jaded Touch.

The Willows by Krystal George

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal; Urban Fantasy, Vampires
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Life is easy when you have everything you want; great friends, a boyfriend who loves you, a happy family that supports you, brothers that both protect and annoy you. I had all of that… once. That was before the accident. That was before the murder. That was before… The Willows. Evelyn Magwire now has a choice to make. Does she turn her back on the mysteries that have consumed her life, or does she face the darkness and find the truth? When her brother comes up missing, the choice is made for her. Forced on a path where her friends become her enemies and her enemies become her friends, Evie learns that the changes happening to herself are the scariest of all. She’s not sure she will ever be the same again… Because some changes are forever… and bloodlust… never dies.

After loosing everything Evelyn is told over and over again that she just has to move on. But it's just not that easy. This is one of those books that you just feel like you are a part of the story. Evelyn is such an empty character at the beginning. As she realizes what is happening around her, it ads much more depth to her. I really enjoyed reading this book and hope that there will be a sequel as I would love to see what happens next.
