City of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Urban Fantasy; Angels, Demons, Werewolves, Vampires, Fae
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost? Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

This is the fifth of the Mortal Instruments. Clary has to come to terms with Sebastian and Jace being connected. Her friends are trying to do anything and everything to find a way to fix this before the Clave get involved. This is a great read as you feel like you are on the edge of your seat the entire time that you are reading it. There is a much darker side to the Clave that is shown and makes you wonder if they should be in power. I look forward to reading the final book to the Mortal Instruments, City of Heavenly Fire, as I loved reading this book.

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Urban Fantasy; Angels, Demons, Werewolves, Vampires, Fae
Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price. Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side—along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. Not to mention that he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls—neither of whom knows about the other one. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace. Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

This is the fourth book in the Mortal Instruments series. Clary is home and yet everything has changed she is now training and learning more and more about the Shadowhunter world. And yet things have changed Shadowhunters are dying and it doesn’t look good for the Downworlders. Everyone wants a piece of Simon now that he is homeless and he is getting himself into very deep with two very beautiful women. Jace is pulling away and confusing Clary. This book only builds on the world of Mortal Instruments, adding more questions while answer some as well. I got mad at Jace several times through out this book, but was caught up in Clary. I loved reading this book and look forward to reading the next book in this series, City of Lost Souls.
