Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith

Genre: Young Adult
Sub Genre: Paranormal Romance; Vampires, Angels, Shapeshifters, Were-people
Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars

Back Cover: Classified Ad Wanted: Personal assistant to Her Royal Highness. Duties: Whatever asked without hesitation, including but not limited to secretarial/administrative, household, defense, blood donation, driving, companionship, prey disposal, and love slavery. At last, Miranda is the life of the party: all she had to do was die. Elevated and adopted by none other than the reigning King of the Mantle of Dracul, Miranda goes from high-school theater wannabe to glamorous royal fiend overnight. Her reckless and adoring guardian angel, meanwhile – fighting in human guise as the princess’s personal assistant – has his work cut out for him with the Master’s Death Day gala fast approaching. Can Zachary save his girl’s soul and redeem himself before all hell arrives, quite literally, on their doorstep? In alternating point of view, the vampire Miranda and the angel Zachary navigate castle life and a cutthroat eternal aristocracy while playing out a dangerous love story for the ages.

I thought that this was a better story than Tantalize, mainly because I’m not big on cooking. But I’m not big on angels either. That being said I did enjoy this story quite a bit. I love the way that it changes perspectives between the characters. Miranda was your average shy girl that didn’t quite do a whole lot. And then you have the bad boy angel Zachary who makes one small mistake, ok one big mistake that lands his charge to becoming a vamp. It’s a little campy at times but still not bad for a light read. The next book in this series is Blessed.
